Your Diet & ADHD

The Feingold Diet (cont.)

Many studies have explored the Feingold diet since Dr. Feingold’s original research. One such study eliminated preservatives and food colorings from the diets of children with ADHD first, and then reintroduced them into their diets. This study found that dyes and preservatives increased hyperactivity. Another study looked at the effects of sodium benzoate on the diets of college students. Sodium benzoate can be found in some carbonated drinks, salad dressings and condiments. This study found that college students who consumed high amounts of sodium benzoate also tended to have ADHD symptoms.
