How to Keep Pets Safe in the Summer
Keep temperature in mind when exercising your pet. The Humane Society suggests limiting exercise to early mornings or late evenings, when it is not extremely hot. You may also want to bring a water bottle and bowl on your walks or to the park so your dog has an opportunity to drink while you’re out. Be extra careful if your pet is obese or has a short nose and trouble breathing, but you should keep a close eye on your dog in the heat — no matter what its breed, age or state of health. Walk your pet on grass when possible, as cement can burn an animal’s paws in the summer.
