Doripenem treats serious bacteria infections of the kidney, urinary tract, and stomach. Depending on the infection being treated, you can be given this medication for up to 14 days.

Doripenem is a prescription medication used to treat serious bacterial infections of the kidney, urinary tract, and stomach. Doripenem belongs to a group of drugs called carbapenem antibiotics. These work to kill bacteria by interfering with their ability to make a cell wall. 

This medication comes in an injectable form to be given directly into a vein (IV) by a healthcare professional. It is usually given every 8 hours for 5-14 days, depending on the type of infection.
